Zhu Zhu Toy Pet Hamsters… Why should you get one? Well for one thing, Zhu Zhu Toy is one of the most popular toy in all toy stores today! I even read this article that in the last Black Friday sale, Zhu Zhu pets has the most sales in the toy division or something. There this Zhu Zhu madness in the US I tell you!
Zhu Zhu Pets, The Beginning
What are Zhu Zhu Pets? Zhu Zhu Pets are interactive toy pets, each with their own set of over 40 sound effects, squeaks, chirps, etc. Oh and yeah, the ‘main’ zhu zhu pet character is the Hamster. To bad the pet hamster didn’t get to experience his fame and glamor since it got eaten by the family cat.
The early beginnings of these cute, furry little toys is a story worth mentioning. Zhu Zhu Pets is the second toy startup for company CEO Russell Hornsby, a Mattel veteran who says his first company, Trendmasters, went under in the 2002 recession after his bank cut his funding…Hornsby, 56, says Zhu Zhus were inspired by his own family’s pet hamster.
Zhu Zhu Pets Hamsters had a fabulous pre-season launch in our first test market: Phoenix Arizona! They were available for purchase in the Phoenix area at Wal-Mart, Toys R Us and a few select select Hallmark Gold Crown stores. They were such a success that all out stock blew off the shelves! Zhu Zhu Pets™ Hamsters are now being produced as quickly as possible in even greater numbers for our national distribution/rollout for Fall 2009.
What can Zhu Zhu Pets do?
Well, you can do what ever it is that you do with your pet, and more! More?! You wont need to clean up its pooh for one thing… and it wont die right? And giving it a bath is probably optional.. if you’re fond of bathing a pet, i guess you can do it.. if you’re lazy like me, you can let your zhu zhu pet stink.

Zhu Zhu Pets™ drive around in little cars, zip up ramps and spin down slides, run in their hamster wheels, and get into all sorts of crazy situations. Their artificial intelligence even allows them to know what room of their hamster habitat they are in. They make toilet-flushing or teeth-brushing sounds when they enter the bathroom and sleeping noises and alarm-clock sounds when they go into their bedroom.

I say, if my boys would ask me if I could buy them a Zhu Zhu Pets, I will tell them ‘No’ and carefully explain them that these are not real. These are not pets, it’s not alive and it’s just a toy.
Knowing my boys and knowing how they play, I say those little Zhu ZHu pets wont last a day with them :) I might as well throw my $8 (Black Friday price) in the trash bin.
