I had a busy, bank day today considering today is Monday, my “Sunday”…. Today started yesterday, actually. (That’s two weird sentences already, are you following me? lol).

Yesterday was 2009 Mother’s Day. We celebrated the day in the mall. It was crowded than usual or it’s just probably Sunday and we usually go there Monday. Burger for lunch and Wolverine for the movie. Anyway, what I wanted to say is that we withdraw the adsense money in Villarica pawnshop Marilao branch. My wife took a lot longer to withdraw the money than usual because it’s a new branch probably… sa Country bank, where the people there know us already, only took a few minutes.

Anyway, today, Monday, I opened up a dollar savings account here in BPI Bank Norzagaray Branch. The minimum amount required to open one is $100. I initially deposited half of what we withdrew the day before and half (forex was $1=Php47.00) was deposited on my BPI Peso account (Php 47,000) which is what i use to pay bills online (Smart,Meralco etc..)

May 11, 2009 is also the maturity date of the 3-month long time deposit. The money we invested in there was the education plan of two of my boys and my own personal insurance from Sun Life. All are due by the end of the month.. I thought , why keep the money hiden somewhere the house when you can put in safely in the bank. Anyway, I renew the time deposit and added the new batch of savings (Php40000). Set it to mature in another 3 months.

Need to remind myself with the dates.

Yeah, yeah, already have a post about “Nu Blag”.. well, what can I say, I love blogging that’s why I have created  2 more new blogs! These blogs is all about leisure time and hobbies.. specifically TV shows and movies!

Since, i thought, I am regularly watching (and waiting) for new episodes of my favorite tv shows why not make a blog about it…also, every weekend (sometimes week days) my wife and I watch movies… It’s like a Friday/Saturday/Sunday night movie time night… (una kami kina Zoren ha, we’ve been doing this since cabuyao days pa)

Heck, anyway… I decided to put here the Big Friday events that happened yesterday coz I don’t see it fits on my ‘Father and Son‘ Blog, or on my Quotes and SMS Message blog not even on my SEO Wrong Spelling blog… I could have put it on Everything Eli (the original blog site) but.. yeah, no but.. Matthew’s Sick

Matt has had a fever for two days. On the second day (yesterday, Friday) I decided that we see his pediatrician.

His doctor gave prescribed a couple of medicines.

Starex Problem

The problem started at home. The battery is dead, drained. Asked my bro to switch battery with his car. We used his battery but when we got to the hospital, some how, it did not charged and it died out completely.

Shell Parking and Lost Key

While seeing Matt’s doctor, i did not turn off the car since I know that it wouldn’t start up anymore… There’s this ‘driver’s instict’ that  came to me that I felt that we wouldn’t reach home with the condition of the car. I parked the car at a gasoline station and commute back home.

Bro and I picked up the car that same afternoon… we went there TWICE! First time, i forgot to bring the key.. That was the major blooper of the day! Tanga tanga.

I have been blogging for several years now. Started doing journals of my work and life sometime in 2006. Earlier still, 2005 probably, I did a mano-a-mano html editing (notepad) as I update my ‘so-called journal’. Back then I have no idea that what I was doing was called blogging. And I have no idea that I can actually earn couple of dollars doing it.

Now, many people are trying out this web log without any idea of what a blog is.

What is a Blog?

When you mention ‘blog’ to the uninitiated, they tend to think that that blogs are online diaries where people share their opinions, ramblings and personal events.

Wrong!

Confused huh? A while ago, I said that I do document my life on a blog. But blogging (or writing) about your personal life or experience is just one of the things that you could do with a blog.

Remember that a blog is a kind of website just like forums or static web pages or wikis. Today blogs are being used for all those sorts of purposes. Companies use blogs to communicate and interact with customers, newspapers have blogs to their main website and individuals that created a blog to share with the world their expertise on specific topics. And so on.

Take my blog for example, I dont’ write (that many) personal post but I do call it my personal web log isn’t it? My other blog, mentions Arnel Pineda a lot (and I have my rea$on$ lol). Then I have this work blog where I talk about techs, work, shell scripting and others. Band concerts and about music is what Pinoybanda is all about. Anyway, what I’m trying to say is that blogging is not just for ‘personal diaries’… Write what you love. There are no rules (generally).

Money on Blogs

Is there money on blogs? Well, let me just say first that if you love blogging and writing and sharing stuff, monetizing blogs will definitely follows. I’m no pro, but there are lots of options out there that you can utilize to monetize you blog – adsense, adbrite, amazon affiliates, text links ads etc.

There are tons of keywords out there you can use to get some traffic. Right now there are some adult words floating around web like tube8 and redtube videos which have potential earnings. Yutube and dowload too are possible money earners. Qoutes me on that. :D

I already shared this information with my siblings and hopefully they will blog too about their likes (if not their personal lives). And I’m happy to say that my brothers is starting to earn a few bucks a day about this hobby we call blogging

Listen to this everyone, coz there’s a quiz… Lolz. The reason for doing this post is that when browsing one of my blog hosted on a free webhosting service, I noticed that my blog is offline or ‘Unable to display page’. I can’t complain since, well, it is a free service…

Why is there a need to know if your website or blog are experiencing frequent downtimes?

The answer is simple, “When your website is unavailable or malfunctioning, it gives an unprofessional and negative image to your organization and leads to income losses.”

If the case of Adsense bloggers who’s been doing some SEO and some keyword optimization, having an offline blog is synonymous to potential click loss and that means loss of $$$.

How would we know if our site is down?

One sure way of checking if you’re site is up or down is to visit it. If it displays, it’s up, if it didn’t well, sorry but it’s inaccessible.

Problem with that is you can’t do that manual checking at regular interval or on different location. There could be some DNS/resolution problem where you’re blog can be accessible here and not in the United States or somewhere else.

These is where monitoring sites come in handy.

Free Monitoring Sites

Best thing in life is free ayt? Well yeah, sure it is.. but you have to live with the limitations of being free.

I fast-Googled some free monitoring service we can use to monitor our blogs uptime/downtime. This is by no means the best out there but just to show that these programs exist that I’m presenting them to you.

There, go ahead and create an account… I myself created one on Internet vista.. and will create on on Montastic just to see how it works. (though I have a pretty good idea).

I just transfered my “All About… ” blog to YRHOST, where this blog and pinoybanda is hosted and currently checking my adsense performance… So far, it looks good. I’ll share the outcome soon, so visit back alright?
