I Love Rock and Roll – Joan Jet Black Hearts (MP3, Video, Chords, Lyrics)

by on November 13, 2012

Here’s few facts and trivia about that song:

  • I Love Rock and Roll was not originally from the band/group Joan Jet and the Black Hearts (yes kids, not even Britney Spears). But I think its the most popular version and most often mistaken and the original one.
  • Been arguing with my wife about this song and looks like the original song is by a British rock group called The Arrows.
  • The song was first released 1975 by The Arrows.
  • According to the composer, its a ‘reply’ to one of the Rolling Stone’s song “It’s only Rock and Roll”.

I Love Rock and Roll Guitar Tab

Tab of the song and how to play can be found here. I think that’s accurate enough and will refer to it when Lois, myself and CK rehearse it :)

Lyrics:

I saw him dancin’ there by the record machine
I knew he must a been about seventeen
The beat was goin’ strong
Playin’ my favorite song
An’ I could tell it wouldn’t be long
Till he was with me, yeah me, singin’

I love rock n’ roll
So put another dime in the jukebox, baby
I love rock n’ roll
So come an’ take your time an’ dance with me

He smiled so I got up and’ asked for his name
That don’t matter, he said,
‘Cause it’s all the same

Said can I take you home where we can be alone

An’ next we were movin’ on
He was with me, yeah me

Next we were movin’ on
He was with me, yeah me, singin’

I love rock n’ roll
So put another dime in the jukebox, baby
I love rock n’ roll
So come an’ take your time an’ dance with me

Said can I take you home where we can be alone

An we’ll be movin’ on
An’ singin’ that same old song
Yeah with me, singin’

I love rock n’ roll
So put another dime in the jukebox, baby
I love rock n’ roll
So come an’ take your time an’ dance with me
